Now You Can Fly With Your Furry Friends: A New Flying With Pets Policy

We know how much we love our furry friends, and we love to travel with them as well. But when it comes to airlines, it is quite time-consuming as well, and we have to pay hefty prices for them. But now, with the help of the flying with pets policy by American Airlines, our lives have been eased.

Whenever the owner took his/her pet, they had to pay $150 (INR 12,507) to keep them in the cabin, which is the amount for the carry-ons that fit under the seat. For the more oversized luggage, passengers were fined more than $35 (INR 2918).

But now, flying with pets in American Airlines is hassle-free because of the new policies designed for travelling with pets. With a newly launched policy, you can now bring your pets with your regular carry-on luggage or any other valuables, not two bags at once.

When you look at the old flying with pets policy, it is pretty heart-wrenching for the passengers since they were paying the fees. Still, our furballs were not allowed in the cabin, which has been changed since March 28th 2024, and now your pets are not just a carry-on.

Here are a few things that you must know about flying with pets in American Airlines

Pets are allowed on most flights for 12 hours in the United States, between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, St. Croix and St. Thomas.
The pet you bring in the cabin must be small enough to fit comfortably inside a pet carrier or crate that easily fits under the seat.
While flying with pets on American Airlines, passengers should keep the necessary things for their pets, like water, medicines (prescribed), treats, etc.
Pets who are fully trained, such as service dogs, can fly in the cabin if the requirements are met.
Pet owners must check-in, and all checked bag fees are applied according to airline policy.
Flying with pets in American Airlines that are brachycephalic means those who have a snubbed nose are not allowed.
Passengers are required to make reservations at least 48 hours before travelling.
Always check in at the ticket counter with your official permit and orders.
Passengers cannot travel with pets if the current/forecasted temperature is above 25.9 degrees Celsius.
