Weekend Getaways: Where Short Breaks Become Great Journeys
Don't Just Dream, Travel!
Weekend getaways are what you promise yourself every Monday and forget by Wednesday. Then Friday arrives, the group chat goes quiet, and you spend the same weekend you spent the last three. The fix is smaller than it sounds. One night bus and one seat booked in advance are enough. By sunrise you are unloading bags at a deodar camp in Kanatal or watching mist lift off a Coorg coffee estate while the city you left is still asleep.
From Delhi, the Himalayan foothills open up within a single overnight drive, from Kanatal's camps to Chopta's Chandrashila summit and the Dhauladhar ridge above McLeodganj. From Bangalore, the map runs south and west instead to Coorg's coffee estates, the Gokarna coastline and the misty trails of Kodaikanal. These are two very different kinds of weekends, both for people who cannot stretch the calendar any further.
We have run weekend trips for nine years, and more than 15,000 travellers have joined our fixed batch departures across both cities, which has given us a 4.9-star Google rating. Every trip travels as a community of like-minded people who share the road, the stays, and the trail, which is why most travellers leave with a group they stay in touch with long after the weekend ends. Every departure runs with a trip captain who has done that route before, and every stay on this page was visited and checked by our team before it was added.
Our weekend trips start at ₹5,699 per person and are part of our wider range of India tour packages for travellers who want their weekends to count.
Weekend getaways solve the one problem long holidays cannot. You do not need to save leaves, coordinate with four people's calendars, or wait for December to feel like you have actually gone somewhere. Two days, used well, is enough.
The best weekend getaways from Delhi open up four very different maps: the Garhwal hills of Uttarakhand, the Kangra and Kullu valleys of Himachal, the lakes and forts in Rajasthan, and the high-altitude Zanskar crossing in Ladakh. Each region brings something the others cannot, from Kanatal's deodar camps and Chopta's Chandrashila summit to Udaipur's palace lakes and the Zanskar road's 5,000-meter passes. These weekend tours are built to fit a working-week break without stretching the calendar.
What nine years on these routes has taught us: October and November carry the cleanest weather window of the year for the mountain departures. For long weekend trips in Kanatal, Chopta, and McLeodganj around Diwali and Gandhi Jayanti weekends, booking two to three weeks ahead is the difference between confirming your seat and watching the batch sell out.
From quick overnight escapes to long weekend getaways that stretch across multiple Himachal valleys, here are the Delhi departures our travellers book most through the year.
| Weekend Getaways From Delhi | Starting Price | Duration | Suited For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kanatal Weekend Trip: Surkanda Devi, Camping & Tehri Dam Water Sports | ₹5,699/-per person | 1N - 2D | First-timers and short-break travellers |
| 3 Days Tirthan Valley Tour | Gushaini & Jalori Pass | ₹8,999/-per person | 2N - 3D | Riverside stays, quiet trekkers, and offbeat valley seekers |
| Udaipur Group Trip From Delhi | Lakes, Legends & Royal Rajasthan | ₹9,499/-per person | 2N - 3D | Heritage travellers and culture lovers |
| Zanskar Group Adventure From Delhi: Shinkhu La & Gonbo Rangjon | ₹9,499/-per person | 2N - 3D | High-altitude road trippers |
| 3D Kasol Kheerganga Trek: Ultimate Parvati Valley Group Trip | ₹9,499/-per person | 2N - 3D | Parvati valley and hot-spring seekers, trekking enthusiasts |
| McLeodganj Bir Tirthan Valley Group Expedition From Delhi | ₹20,499/-per person | 4N - 5D | Paragliders, multi-valley travellers, and Himachal first-timers |
Our Delhi weekend travel packages cover four regions across North India, each with its own set of mountain, lake, fort, and desert routes handpicked for a short-break calendar.
Himachal Pradesh: McLeodganj, Bhagsu, Namgyal Monastery, Triund, Kareri Lake, Bir, Billing, Rajgundha valley, Prashar Lake, Kasol, Kheerganga, Chalal, Manikaran, Tosh, Tirthan Valley, Gushaini, Jalori Pass, Serolsar Lake, Shangarh, Sainj Valley, and Manali's Atal Tunnel route to Sissu in Lahaul.
Uttarakhand: Kanatal, Surkanda Devi, Tehri Lake, Chopta, Tungnath, Chandrashila Summit, and Deoria Tal.
Rajasthan: Udaipur's City Palace, Jag Mandir, Bagore ki Haveli, and the Chittorgarh fort complex, including Vijay Stambh and Padmini's Palace, along with Jaisalmer's golden fort, havelis, and Thar desert camps.
Zanskar(Ladakh): The Darcha to Shinkhu La crossing at 5,091 meters, Gonbo Rangjon at 5,320 metres and Sissu.
WanderOn Tip: For Chopta-Tungnath, we run two package options, one built on camp stays and the other on hotels/homestays, so travellers can choose the setup that fits them best.
Weekend getaways from Bangalore open up three very different maps: the coffee country of Coorg in the Western Ghats, the Karnataka coastline through Gokarna, and the Palani hills of Tamil Nadu in Kodaikanal. Each destination carries its own character, from plantation stays and viewpoint drives in Coorg to coastal treks and temple stops in Gokarna and misty cliff trails in Kodaikanal. All long weekend getaways are built around a short-break window that fits the city's working calendar.
What hundreds of departures across these routes have taught us: the post-monsoon stretch from October to February is when all three destinations hit their best. Coorg's estates sit at their greenest, Gokarna's coastal trails stay dry enough for the full Belekan-to-Om walk, and Kodaikanal's Dolphin's Nose stays clear of the heavy mist that rolls in through the wetter months.
| Package | Duration | Stay Highlight |
|---|---|---|
| Coorg Weekend Trip From Bangalore: Stay Amidst Coffee Estate | 1N/2D | Coffee plantation homestay near Harangi Backwaters |
| Gokarna Weekend Trip from Bangalore | Beach Trek & Coastal Vibes | 1N/2D | Resort stay with a pool party & group activities |
| Bangalore to Kodaikanal Group Trip | Vattakanal & Dolphin's Nose | 1N/2D | Nature retreat set across a spacious green property |
Our Bangalore weekend tour packages cover three regions across South India, each paired with a stay that defines the trip as much as the destination itself.
Karnataka (Western Ghats): Coorg's Madikeri, Raja's Seat, Abbey Falls, Mandalpatti viewpoint, Bylakuppe's Golden Temple and Namdroling Monastery, and the Harangi backwaters.
Karnataka (Coastline): Gokarna's coastal trek across Belekan, Paradise Beach, Half Moon Beach, and Om Beach, extending to Murudeshwara's 123-foot Shiva statue and Honnavar's backwaters and mangroves.
Tamil Nadu (Palani Hills): Kodaikanal's Vattakanal, Dolphin's Nose viewpoint, Pine Forest, Pillar Rocks, and Kodai Lake.
What sets our Bangalore stays apart: The stay is often the strongest part of these weekend tours. In Coorg, you wake up inside a coffee plantation homestay set near the Harangi backwaters. In Gokarna, the group checks into a resort built around a pool, with group activities and a pool party that turns the evening into its own experience. In Kodaikanal, you stay at a nature retreat spread across a spacious green property.
Each weekend trip package is priced to cover the essentials, so the price you see at booking is the price of the trip.
Transport: Delhi departures travel overnight in semi-sleeper Volvo buses, with AC tempo travellers for transfers at the destination. Where mountain roads demand it, we arrange 4x4 vehicles.
Stays and meals: Camps, homestays, hotels and resorts are chosen route by route, and meals are included as per the itinerary. For Chopta and Tungnath, we offer two versions of the trip, one with camp stays and one with hotels or homestays.
A trip captain on every departure: Your captain has done that specific route before. They manage timings, read the weather and make the call when a plan needs to change.
Signature activities: Paragliding at Bir Billing, the Serolsar Lake walk from Jalori Pass and the Gokarna coastal trek are part of the base package rather than extras sold on arrival.
Not all weekend trips look the same, and neither do our departures. Some weekend tours wrap up in a single overnight, others stretch across four or five days with one or two leaves added in. Here is how our Delhi and Bangalore weekend destinations split across the calendar.
Our 2-day weekend trips are built for travellers who cannot stretch the calendar past Sunday evening, and the destinations we cover in this window still deliver a full change of scene.
These are also the best weekend getaways for couples looking for a short-break reset without planning weeks ahead, especially the Coorg plantation stay and the Kodaikanal nature retreat.
The 2N/3D format is where our Delhi weekend list opens up the most. These are the departures travellers book around Gandhi Jayanti, Diwali, and Christmas long weekends when the calendar hands them a Friday or Monday off.
This is also the trip-length window where our weekend destinations hit their widest spread, from a 2,850-meter Himalayan ridge to a 5,091-meter Zanskar pass to a Rajasthan lake palace.
For travellers willing to add one or two leaves to a long weekend, our 4N/5D departures turn a short break into a proper Himachal road journey.
These are the long weekend vacations that cover more ground, carry more variety, and work especially well for first-time Himachal travellers who want to see the state's different landscapes in a single booking.
Our weekend tour packages are built around the small details that decide whether a trip actually works. Here is what sets our Delhi and Bangalore departures apart.
Only one weekend is enough. You only need the right route and the right people on the bus. Explore WanderOn's full lineup of weekend getaways from Delhi and Bangalore, and book the one that fits your calendar before the batch fills up.
Disclaimer: Since these are short-duration trips, kindly follow the timings shared by your trip captain to make sure every planned stop is covered without a rush. Traffic delays may also affect a few sightseeing spots, especially on long weekends and peak-season departures.
