Kerala’s Responsible Tourism Recognised By UNWTO

Kerala is receiving praise for practising responsible tourism by using local resources and making the most of them to contribute more to responsible tourism.

Kerala, along with Maharashtra, has become the two Indian states that the UNWTO has recognised for their exemplary projects: Maharashtra’s Andheri Tiger Reserve and Kerala’s RT Mission, making them among the distinguished G20 nations alongside Turkey, Mauritius, Brazil, Italy, Canada, Germany, and Mexico.

The recognition is proof of Kerala’s dedication to global sustainable tourism practices. The Tourism Minister of Kerala stated that the recognition is a milestone, leading to the first-ever Responsible Tourism Summit, which will take place in February.

The UNWTO citation and the Global Award reinforce the state’s commitment to Responsible Tourism and strengthen its presence on the World Tourism Map.
