The architectural style of the Rumi Darwaza, blending Mughal, Roman, and Turkish influences, eventually gained renown as Awadhi or Lakhnawi architecture. 3. Chhota  Imambara

Constructed in 1838, the Chhota Imambara originally functioned as a gathering place for Shia Muslims. Commissioned by Muhammad Ali Shah, the third Nawab of Awadh, it was intended to be both his mausoleum and that of his mother, who lies buried beside him within this esteemed structure.

The Imambara is beautifully adorned with decorations and chandeliers at the time of special festivals, especially Muharram. This 19th-century building is also referred to as the ‘Palace of Lights’ by European visitors and writers because of the profuse decorations of the monument at specific events.
