1. Shankaracharya Temple

One of the most religious places in Kashmir, the Shankaracharya Temple, located in Srinagar, is dedicated to Shiva and is located 1000 feet above the land. 2. Kheer Bhawani Temple

Built by Raja Maharaja Pratap Singh in the year 1912 on a spring of the same name, the Kheer Bhawani temple is named after the practice of offerings of Kheer that are made in the temple. The temple is one of the most important shrines in the Hindu religion and is said to have magical powers as the spring changes its colour to black whenever there’s a disaster approaching.  

The temple also organises the Jesht Ashtami which is also one of the most important festivals in Kashmir, and over hundreds and thousands of pilgrims visit this temple during this time every year. 

3. Raghunath Temple

Renowned worldwide and one of the most religious places in Kashmir, it is majorly known for its architecture which was constructed by Mahjaraja Gulab Singh and then completed by Maharaja Ranbir Singh. The entrance of this temple has gold-plated art and paintings related to Ram and Krishna.

4. Jamia Masjid

One of the biggest mosques not just in Kashmir, but the entire country; the Jamia Masjid is one of the most important places for Muslims residing in the country. Located in Srinagar near the Dal Lake where you can reside in one of the houseboats in Kashmir, the mosque has over 370 pillars and can accommodate up to 1 Lakh devotees at a time, making it one of the largest holy places in Jammu and Kashmir. The best time to visit this mosque is between 3 PM to 7 PM.
