Recently updated, The National Immigration Administration announced that tourists will be allowed to stay for up to 15 days, this move is intended to boost tourism and encourage cultural exchanges between China and other nations.
Mao Xu, a senior immigration official, announced that tour groups can now arrive at 13 specific ports, including Shanghai, Dalin, Qingdao, and Haikou. These groups, which are organized by domestic travel agencies, will have the opportunity to visit coastal provinces and the capital city, Beijing, while they are in China.
He also mentioned that the new policy of Visa Free Entry in China for foreign tour groups on cruise ships will help the cruise industry grow. He also said it will bring more international tourists to China and make cultural exchanges between China and other countries easier.
According to reports, China is now hosting about 21 international cruise ships that stop at its ports while traveling to places like Japan, Vietnam, and South Korea. Zhu Zhenyu, a senior official at the Ministry of Transport, mentioned that in 2023, cruise ships in China recorded a total of 107,000 passenger trips.
Now, China is facing economic problems and low travel demand, making it hard to attract visitors from other countries. Recently, Qantas Airways, an Australian airline, stopped flying between Sydney and Shanghai because not many people were traveling between Australia and China. Instead, Qantas is now focusing on places like Singapore and Bengaluru, India. Even though people expected a big return to travel after the Covid-19 pandemic, it hasn’t happened as strongly as hoped.
So, China has been taking steps to attract more international visitors. Following the late last year, when they allowed Visa Free entry in China for travelers from some European and Asian countries. This year they updated this policy of Visa Free Entry in China further. They said, “We want to make it easier for tourists to visit.” In January, China also introduced its first locally-made cruise ship. This ship gives local tourists more ways to explore.
