  • By Air:

Fly to Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB):

The nearest international airport to Alankuda Beach is Bandaranaike International Airport, located near Colombo.

  • By Road:

From Bandaranaike International Airport to Alankuda Beach:

  1. Taxi/Private Car: You can hire a taxi or a private car from the airport. The journey is approximately 130 km and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on traffic.
  2. Car Rental: You can rent a car at the airport or in Colombo and drive to Alankuda Beach. Make sure you have an updated map or GPS for navigation.
  3. Bus: You can take a bus from Colombo to Puttalam or Kalpitiya. From Puttalam or Kalpitiya, you can hire a tuk-tuk or a local taxi to reach Alankuda Beach.
  • Train

Another option is to take a train from Colombo Fort Railway Station to Puttalam. From Puttalam, you can take a taxi or a tuk-tuk to Alankuda Beach.

Kitesurfing is one of the most popular sports in Kalpitiya, which remains a major tourist spot, especially in the kite season that falls between May to October in summers and from mid-December to mid-March in winters.

It is one of the major attractions of Kalpitiya is its iconic spots for dolphin and whale watching. Kudawa beach is located about 160 kilometres to the north of Colombo, which is the commercial capital city of Sri Lanka.
