However, during Ambubachi Mela 2024, Kamakhya Temple will be shut down from June 22 to June 25 which marks the menstrual cycle of Goddess Kamakhya. No Devotee is allowed to enter the temple before 09:08 pm on June 25. Annually, the Kamakhya Temple mela draws innumerable devotees who participate in the age-old custom of the Kamakhya Temple Fair.
The festival is often addressed as the ‘Mahakumbh of the East’, and is celebrated with great enthusiasm. - No one else apart from the institution of Kamakhya Temple Mela is allowed to distribute food and water.
- Ferry services and vehicle moments from Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya Temple are restricted.
