Most visitors travelling from Amritsar opt to hire a taxi or take a private vehicle to reach the Attari Wagah Border. The road journey is approximately 30 kilometres and takes around 45 minutes.

Many visitors prefer the winter months to visit Wagah Border Amritsar because of the more pleasant and cooler weather. However, it can get quite chilly in the evenings, so it’s essential to dress warmly, especially if you plan to sit in the open-air seating areas. The ceremony typically starts around 4:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).
Summer months offer longer daylight hours, but they can be hot and humid, particularly in June and July to visit Wagah Border Amritsar. The Attari Border Parade starts later in the evening (around 5:30 PM IST) during the summer, which means you can avoid the heat but may experience it getting dark during the event.
