Cloud bursts in India have caused significant disruption across multiple states. The rainfall in Gurgaon and other parts of Delhi-NCR has led to widespread flooding, while the cloud bursts in Himachal Pradesh and Kerala have resulted in tragic loss of life.

Cloud Burst – According to IMD(India Meteorological Department) over 100 millimetres of rain in one hour is generally defined as a “Cloud Burst”. And the Pragati Maidan observatory in central Delhi recorded 112.5 mm of rain in just one hour. However, there has been no official statement on the situation from weather officials.

Wayanad Landslide

Heavy rains triggered the Wayanad landslide, caused destruction and loss of life. 3 major landslides in Wayanad, Kerala on Tuesday, took the life of 256 people, and over 200 were injured. And around 220 people are still missing.

Badly affected areas include Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha villages. “At least 1,500 Army personnel have been deployed for the rescue operation. We have deployed forensic surgeons” – The Health Minister stated.

A command centre has been set up in Kozhikode and forensic surgeons have been deployed for victim identification. Residents in hilly areas are urged to stay alert!

Himachal Cloud Burst

Two people have died and 53 are missing due to the Himachal cloud burst. Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu districts are badly affected. Schools and colleges in Kullu and Mandi have been closed and officials are ordered to provide all necessary assistance.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu urged people to avoid reaching rivers and canals. He said that the army’s help had been requested and efforts are in place to find those missing.  He further added that the overall situation is under control, however significant damage has been made to roads and infrastructure.

Heavy Rainfall In Delhi NCR

Many states are affected due to rainfalls and landslides. Heavy rainfall in Delhi NCR caused flooding. Delhi and its surrounding areas were hit by heavy rains on Wednesday, causing waterlogging in many parts, including Noida Sector 16 (Film City). A “red alert” was issued for Delhi until early Thursday morning. An “orange alert” for the following 24 hours.

The rainy weather is likely to continue until August 5, affecting not just Delhi but other parts of the National Capital Region (NCR)  such as Salwan Station in Mayur Vihar, East Delhi, and Noida to name a few. Hence, Officials stated that due to the persistent rainfall in Delhi NCR and other areas, it is crucial for people to stay indoors if possible and avoid areas known for flooding.

Rainfall In Gurgaon

Heavy rainfall in Gurgaon resulted in severe flooding and traffic jams.  Dwarka Expressway, Sectors 9, 21, and 23, Greenwood City, Ardee City, Palam Vihar, Bhim Nagar, and MG Road were highly affected areas.

Heavy rainfall in Gurgaon made it hard for residents to leave their homes. Even the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway was impacted by the heavy rains. Officials are working to address the flooding and traffic issues.

In Ladakh, find the perfect blend of culture, adventure, and serenity. December last year I decided that my next trip would be Ladakh but didn’t know how to go about it. I knew I wanted to travel in a group, as I had prior experiences of traveling in a group but wanted an organiser I could trust. Ladakh isn’t like other destinations wherein you need some instructions due to the high altitudes.
