History Of Dusshera In Sri Lanka

So, a long time ago, there lived a noble king, Dasharatha, who had three sons, Rama, Lakshmana and Bharata and a daughter named Shanta.

Being the eldest son, Rama should have been crowned, but Bharata was honoured with the King’s position. At the same time, Rama was sent into exile for 14 years.

Rama and his beloved wife, Sita, and his younger brother, Lakshmana, began their journey to the forest. During the exile, Sita was kidnapped by the all-powerful king Ravana, which led to a quest for Rama to rescue her.

With the help of Hanuman and his army of monkeys, Rama waged a great battle against Ravana. After a fierce struggle, Rama defeated Ravana and rescued Sita. Their return to Ayodhya was celebrated with grandeur, marking the win of good over evil.
