Is Global Warming The Reason For The Drying Up Italy’s Iconic River?

Italy’s longest Italian river Po, approximately 652 km long, is drying up, which may lead to cancellations of cruise bookings. This iconic river is an essential source of irrigation for agricultural purposes in Po Valley and water transportation. The river has a significant role in the wildlife habitat of birds, fishes and other species. Turin, Cremona, Ferrara, and Piacenza are some cities located on the River Po’s bank. The situation of the river is due to the fact the winters were comparatively warmer and led to the drying up of the river, significantly affecting tourism activities such as boating and cancellations of cruise bookings.

Unless the region witnesses a good amount of rainfall, the condition of the river will not get any better than this.
