Hari Parbat Fort: A Historical Gem In The Heart Of Srinagar

Hari Parbat also known as Kooh-e-Maran Srinagar Kashmir, is a historical hill from where you can see the whole city. In 1590, Akbar built an outer wall and a big gate called Kathi Darwaza. But building a fort on Hari Parbat was never finished. The Hari Parbat Fort is also known as Durrani Fort, was built in the 18th century by Atta Mohammad Khan, who was in charge of the area then. The fort shows how people made strong buildings back then. The fort has big stone walls and strong towers. These were placed strategically to provide the best views of Srinagar including Dal Lake. 

The Hari Parbat Fort Srinagar was built to be strong and hard to attack. The builders used the shape of the hill to make the fort even better at keeping people out. 

Hari Parbat Fort History reflects the changing political landscape of the region. In the early 1800s, the Sikhs took control of the fort. Then in 1846, the British took it from the Sikhs. After independence, the fort became part of India. In 2007, the Archaeological Survey of India took control of the fort and opened it to the public.
