The summer season has begun and it calls to be the perfect excuse for everyone who needs a getaway from this scorching heat and also an out from all the daily activities and commotion for a little while. Taking advantage of this, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has presented a very special journey.

This odyssey is for all those devotees who are seeking refuge at the divine feet— IRCTC Ramayana Yatra, which is going to be a special spiritual journey, ready to go across the length and breadth of India, where every step will whisper the tales of timeless devotion and inner peace.

This initiative has been taken to facilitate spiritual journeys and promote cultural tourism. Keeping that in mind, IRCTC has launched this special pilgrimage train by the title of “IRCTC Ramayana Yatra train.” This train will allow travellers to explore 39 sacred sites, across 14 cities in total, over a span of 17 nights and 18 days.

From the sacred city of Ayodhya which is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama, to the undisturbed shores of Rameswaram, this yatra is going to be a unique opportunity to explore the legendary sites associated with the Hindu epic Ramayana.

The journey is set to commence from Safdarjung Railway Station in Delhi and travel through several cities. Passengers will visit Ayodhya, Buxar, Nandigram, Sitamarhi, Janakpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Shringverpur, Chitrakoot, Hampi, Nasik, Rameshwaram, Bhadrachalam, and Kanchipuram.

To facilitate every passenger’s convenience, the Shri Ramayana Yatra train offers multiple boarding and alighting options. These include stations like Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Tundla, Etawah, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Gwalior, Mathura, Agra Cantt, and Safdarjung.

Among the notable destinations covered in the tour are; Janakpur, revered as the birthplace of Goddess Sita and the site of her swayamvar; Varanasi, where Lord Rama is said to have performed rituals after slaying Ravana; Chitrakoot, where the divine jodi of Rama and Sita spent a significant portion of their exile; and Hampi, believed to be the ancient Kishkindha, the kingdom of Sugriva.

Passengers embarking on this spiritual journey can expect comfortable train travel equipped with modern amenities, promising an enjoyable pilgrimage experience. The tour package includes accommodation at each destination, hearty meals, and expert-guided tours to significant landmarks associated with the Ramayana. The tour’s pricing system caters to multiple set budgets and preferences for four coach categories: AC First Coupe, AC First, Second AC, and Third AC. These packages are available for single, double, or triple-sharing passengers and are priced accordingly.

Here are the prices for each package after applying a generous 33 percent discount; the First AC Coupe package is priced at INR 1,66,810, the First AC package is priced at INR 1,45,745, the Second AC package is priced at INR 1,34,710, the Third AC package is priced at INR 94,600.

With the launch of the IRCTC Ramayana Yatra train, they have reiterated their commitment to promoting religious and cultural tourism and proffering more insights to celebrate India’s rich religious heritage and mythology. As the demand for these spiritual travel experiences continues to rise, such initiatives are assured to play an important role in shaping the structure of the tourism industry in the years to come.

In Ladakh, find the perfect blend of culture, adventure, and serenity. December last year I decided that my next trip would be Ladakh but didn’t know how to go about it. I knew I wanted to travel in a group, as I had prior experiences of traveling in a group but wanted an organiser I could trust. Ladakh isn’t like other destinations wherein you need some instructions due to the high altitudes.
