After a break during the monsoon season, Kaziranga National Park to reopen in October 2024. Kaziranga, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a popular destination in Assam and is known for its rich biodiversity. 

Assam experiences heavy monsoons annually, which can sometimes impact the park’s operations. As per reports, the Kaziranga National Park to reopen date will remain the same as long as the weather conditions in the region are favourable. 

Visitors planning their trips should note that the Kaziranga National Park to reopen date is October 1st and be mindful and responsible during their visit, as the park is still recovering.

Monsoon Floods Claim Lives Of 215 Animals In Kaziranga National Park

Kaziranga National Park has been once again devastated by the annual monsoon floods. The park is home to one-horned rhinoceros, rare bird species, and other animals. This year due to severe flooding, 13 rhinos lost their lives, along with numerous Hog Deer, Swamp Deer, Wild Pigs, and other smaller species.

Welcoming visitors starting October 1st, the park continues to be a haven for those seeking to experience India’s rich biodiversity. Visitors coming to the park during the 2024-25 season will still have the chance to see a wide variety of wildlife including the park’s iconic one-horned rhinoceros population as well as numerous rare bird species.

How To Reach Kaziranga National Park?

Kaziranga National Park is easily accessible by various modes of transport:
  • Airway:

The closest airport is Jorhat, just 97 km from the park. Visitors can also fly to Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, located 217 km away. From there, you can reach Kaziranga National Park by taxi or bus. 

  • By Train: 

Furkating Junction, 75 km from Kaziranga, serves as the nearest railway station. This is well-connected to major cities like Guwahati and Jorhat, making the train journey a convenient option for many visitors.

  • By Bus: 

For those preferring public transport, both state-run and private buses regularly operate from Guwahati, Tezpur, and Jorhat to the park.
