Delhi To Dehradun Expressway: Journey Time Cut To Just 2.5 Hours!

This timeline has recently been communicated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This means the fast route between Delhi and Dehradun could be ready sooner than expected. Additionally, a special link connecting this expressway to Haridwar is also being worked on. Monitored by Prime Minister Modi, it is expected to be completed by May 2025. 

Progress On Delhi To Dehradun Expressway

• If reports are to go by, all land issues for the expressway have now been sorted out. This clears the way for finishing the main road. The NHAI says they will complete it in just 4 months.  
• But there is a bit more to the story. The road to Haridwar wasn’t part of the original plan. It is been added later. This extra link will take a bit longer. It needs about 5 more months to finish. So, while the main expressway is on track for this year, the Haridwar connection will come a little later.

 Delhi To Dehradun Expressway: Key Facts 

• The new expressway to Dehradun will make trips much faster. You will be able to travel from Akshardham in Delhi to Dehradun in just about 2.5 hours. That is way quicker than the 6 hours it takes now.
• Expressway has 7 Entry Points from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh including Geeta Colony, Akshardham, and Sonia Vihar, among others. And Sonia Vihar, Khajuri Chowk, and Vijay Vihar are exit points. 
• This new expressway to Delhi also includes Asia’s longest elevated wildlife corridor. This 12 km stretch helps animals move safely.
• There is also an animal underpass. This special path lets animals cross the road without danger. These features are important to keep both animals and drivers safe in the Rajaji National Park and Shiwalik Reserve forest areas.
• Good news for Haridwar visitors too. The trip from Delhi to Haridwar will only take about 2 hours.
