Minister Erica Stanford points out that even with these new costs, getting a visa for New Zealand is cheaper than in places like Australia or the UK.
If you’re from the outside world of the Pacific, getting a student visa will now cost NZD 485 from NZD 300. For post-study work visas, though the fee is dropping to NZD 320 from NZD 490, check for additional charges. For student visas, it’s raised to NZD 265 from NZD 95. Also, for the Post study work visas, the levy is raised to NZD 1350 from NZD 210.
The fee for the Accredited Employer Work Visa is going down a bit, from NZD 540 to NZD 480. However, there is a huge jump in immigration levy from NZD 210 to NZD 1060. This visa is important because it helps fill job gaps in New Zealand. It makes sure locals get prioritised but also lets companies hire skilled workers from overseas if there are any shortages.
For the jobs in the lower levels, i.e., the ANZSCO levels 4 and 5, now you need to prove you can speak English. Also, People in these jobs used to be able to stay for up to five years. Now, you can only stay for three years at most. These changes in the New Zealand visa fee reflect the government’s efforts to manage immigration more effectively.
