- Size And Cost
The Shimla ropeway will be 13.79 km long. It will cost 1,734.70 crore rupees and there will be 13 stations for people to use for boarding and de-boarding such as Taradevi, Judicial Complex, Chakkar, Tutikandi, New ISBT, Railway Station, and others.
- Main Goal
To reduce traffic jams, to make travel easier in the mountain area and to offer a green way to get around for locals and tourists.
- Government Contribution
The Himachal government will pay 20% and the rest will come from loans.
- Capacity
At first, the ropeway in Shimla is expected to carry 2,000 people per hour and by 2059, they hope to carry 6,000 people per hour both ways.
- Employment
The second largest ropeway will create 250 direct jobs. This could lead to over 20,000 indirect jobs.
Sunder Singh Thakur, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, says the second largest ropeway will help with Shimla’s traffic and be a big step for the town’s transport.
