When we think about Ahmedabad the first thing that comes to our mind is Sabarmati Ashram where Mahatma Gandhi spent crucial years during the freedom struggle. 

Ahmedabad has a blend of ancient and modern architecture. In 2017 Ahmedabad was declared a UNESCO World Heritage City. 

This blend of ancient and modern architecture has made Ahmedabad one of the country’s major tourist attractions. One of the tourist destinations in Ahmedabad is Riverfront Park Ahmedabad. Situated on the bank of the Sabarmati Riverfront Park Ahmedabad consists of six parks that stretch to 11.5 km. 

The six parks include Usmanpura Riverfront Park, Shahbaug Riverfront Park, Riverfront Flower Park, Riverfront Biodiversity Park, Riverfront Children Park, B.J. Park, and Miyawki Plantation.

Ahmedabad Riverfront Park

The Sabarmati Riverfront consists of six riverfront parks. These parks are located in the stretched 11.5 km of Sabarmati Riverfront. Following are some of the Ahmedabad Riverfront Parks –

1. Usmanpura Riverfront Park

Usmanpura Riverfront Park is located on the western bank of the Sabarmati River. The projected aim of the design of the park was to address the retreat where visitors can refresh and reconnect with nature which they might miss in the concrete space of the city. 

Usmanpura Riverfront Park ticket price for Adults is Rs.10/-, and for children and senior citizens it is Rs.5/- and for school tours, the ticket price is Rs.1/-.

Usmanpura Riverfront Park Timings: 09:00 am to 10:00 pm.

2. Shahibaug Riverfront Park

Located on the opposite bank of Sabarmati Ashram stretches to 1.5 km the park is between Subhash Bridge and Dadichi Bridge. The park has a children’s playing area and a walking area. The major attractions of this garden are the Amphitheater and sundial. 

Shahibaug Riverfront Park ticket price for Adults is Rs.10/-, and for children and senior citizens it is Rs.5/- and for school tours, the ticket price is Rs.1/-.

Shahibaug Riverfront Park Timings: 09:00 am to 10:00 pm.

3. Riverfront Flower Park / Kite Bridge

It is the first themed park in the city and one of the best Ahmedabad Riverfront Parks. It is located near Ellisbridge. There are almost 72 varieties of flowers of species in the garden. Some of the areas are the Flower Terraces, Flower Valley, Tricone Vatika, Lake Valley, Plant showcase gardens and Rose Garden, a Greenhouse showcasing shade-loving and exotic plants, and a food court.

Riverfront Flower Park ticket price for Adults is Rs.20/-, and for children and senior citizens it is Rs.10/- and for school tours, the ticket price is Rs.1/-.

Shahibaug Riverfront Park Timings: 09:00 am to 11:00 pm.

4. Atal Bridge

There is also access to Atal Bridge which is designed with the inspiration of kits during Uttrayan. The bridge is solely for walking purposes there are also sitting arrangements for the people to enjoy the beautiful river.

Atal Bridge ticket price for Adults is Rs.30/-, and for children and senior citizens it is Rs.15/-

If you want to visit Atal Bridge and Riverfront Flower Park combined then the ticket price for Adults is Rs.40/-, and for children and senior citizens is Rs.20.

5. Riverfront Biodiversity Park

Riverfront Biodiversity Park has more than 5000 trees and has many endangered species of trees. It is one of the magnificent Riverfront Parks with lush green trees. This park also abodes many migrant and resident species of birds. 

Riverfront Biodiversity Park ticket price for Adults is Rs.20/-, and for children and senior citizens it is Rs.10/- and for school tours, the ticket price is Rs.1/-.

Riverfront Biodiversity Park Timings: 07:00 am to 05:00 pm.

6. Riverfront Children Park

Located near Dafnala the Riverfront Children’s Park is a huge playing area for children. From slides to swings, playground climbers and seesaws Riverfront Children Park has it all. One of the major attractions of this park is the Musical Fountain and the Green Park.

Riverfront Children Park ticket price for Adults is Rs.10/-, and for children and senior citizens it is Rs.5/- and for school tours, the ticket price is Rs.1/-.

Riverfront Children Park Timings: 09:00 am to 11:00 pm.

7. Bhikhabhai Park

Located between Ellis Bridge & Nehru Bridge on the west side of the Riverfront at B.J. Park there are more than 170 trees, some of which are 50 years old and maintained to date. This park is located in the middle of the city and was built to create a children’s playing area, walking area, and open gym. 

Bhikhabhai Park ticket price for Adults is Rs.10/-, and for children and senior citizens it is Rs.5/- and for school tours, the ticket price is Rs.1/-.

Bhikhabhai Park Timings: 09:00 am to 11:00 pm

Best Time To Visit Riverfront Park

2. Sabarmati Ashram

Sabarmati Ashram is around 2.4 km from the Riverfront Park and is at a distance of 2.4 km. It was a humble abode of Mahatma Gandhi for 13 long years. 

Gandhiji was in search of a barren land where he could indulge in farming, animal husbandry, and related activities for which Sabarmati Ashram was the ideal site. Interestingly, this was the ashram site where Rishi Dadichi donated his bones for a righteous war as per mythology.

3. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial is just beside the Riverfront Park. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial originally served as a residence to the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan when he was a prince and the governor of Gujarat. The palace and the garden in front of it were built between 1616-1623.

The Palace was later controlled by the British Raj until the independence which was endowed by the Government Of Gujarat in 1975. The palace served as the Raj Bhavan (Governer’s House) of Gujarat. Later the memorial was founded on 7 March 1980 on the birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and was known as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial.

4. The Calico Museum Of Textiles

The Calico Museum Of Textiles is around 1.6 km from the Riverfront Park. The museum originally was started by the Sarabhai Family. This institution has a clear vision to promote and preserve the diverse and rich textile heritage of India, with more emphasis on fabrics hailed from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and other prominent regions of the Indian Subcontinent.
