This change is expected to reduce wait times by about 30%, especially during busy times like when workers cross from Malaysia. It’s part of Singapore’s effort to use technology to improve travel.
The QR code system will expand to other checkpoints in Malaysia. Singapore is known for its advanced technology, even at Changi Airport. Soon, travellers leaving the island won’t need passports at checkpoints. Manual counters are being replaced with automated lanes, making things faster and easier.
This move is part of Singapore’s plan to modernise border control. It’s also preparing for future projects like the Rapid Transit Link to Malaysia, which will improve connectivity between the two countries.
