Countries in the Indian subcontinent are massively rich in wildlife. And there is no denying that SriLanka, like any other South Asian country, is a part of this category! Sri Lanka, a pearl shaped island is a thriving location for a variety of flora and fauna, especially some of the biggest ones like the Asian elephants and whales. Its marine life, the national parks, and eco-adventures make it a spotlight destination for those who love to explore the wild and stay wild!

Your journey in Sri Lanka begins in the fishing town of Negombo on the western coast. The city is a lively one for it is filled with bustling markets, restaurants, and beaches! The city is also a happening one, a tour here will definitely make you fall in love with its chaos and charm!

You can get an idea of Sri Lanka’s love for its wildlife heritage by visiting the famous Pennawla Elephant Orphanage. You can feed and bathe the mischievous baby elephants who are looked after until they’re ready to be released into the wild. Also! You needn’t travel all the way to the African continent in the hope of a super adventurous safari ride! In Sri Lanka, the wildlife safaris are equally thrilling, stunning, and exciting!

Moving further on our escapade, you will explore the town largely romantic in nature- Trincomalee, also known as Trinco in the local language! Though colonial in setting, you will visit the famous temples of Koneshwaram and Gokana, which have splendid panoramic views over the city and the breathtaking coastline. The town is also famous for its beaches and an evening stroll is a must to enjoy a beautiful sunset over the horizon of the Indian Ocean. And guess what? Since Trincomalee is a beach town, it is also the hotspot for spotting marine mammals! Yes, this is where we get to ride along with the beautiful dolphins and whales in the deep and turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.

Did you know that Sri Lanka is equally famous for its ancientness? The iconic fort of Sirigiya proves just that and so does the Dambulla Cave temple! Both of these sites are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and for all the right reasons! The archaeological wonders, boost the rich history of Sri Lanka. And of course, a journey to a country isn’t complete until we explore the capital! So, we spend a good day visiting the key landmarks of Colombo before departing home with amazing memories.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival at Airport (Negombo) - Overnight stay in Negombo.

Reach Sri Lanka with a touchdown at Negombo, a fishing town famous for its seafood and sandy beaches.

Check in to the hotel, relax for a while and begin the journey with a tour of the city.

Visit the St.Mary’s church, Angurukaramulla Temple, the main fish market, Dutch Clock Tower and Dutch Fort.

Dinner and overnight stay in Negombo.

Day 2

Negombo – Pinnawela – Habarana

Post breakfast, visit the famous Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage.

Here you can watch the Asian elephants go about their day, bathing and feeding!

In the evening proceed to Kaudulla, Minneriya or Eco Park for an adventurous afternoon jeep safari.

Dinner and overnight stay in Habarana.

Day 3

Habarana – Trincomalee

After breakfast, we head out to explore Trincomalee, a port city built by the Portuguese in 17th century.

Visit the famous Koneshwaram temple on Swami Rock cliff, a popular vantage point for blue whale watching.

In the evening, stroll on the beautiful beaches of Trincomalee soaking in all the vibes of Indian Ocean.

Day 4

Trincomalee – Whale Watching

Today is the day you’ve been waiting for! Trincomalee, is one of the rare places to home the biggest mammals on earth.

We go whale and dolphin watching in the depths of Indian Ocean.

Ride alongside the dolphins and watch them jump!

Dinner and overnight stay in Trincomalee.

Day 5

Trincomalee – Sigiriya - Dambulla

After an early breakfast, we head to Dambulla.

On our way, we visit the famous and iconic rock fortress – Sigiriya, also known as ‘Lion Rock’.

Later, visit the UNESCO world heritage site of Dambulla Cave Temple, home to the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka.

Day 6

Dambulla – Colombo

Before departing home, take a tour of the Colombo city.

Visit the key landmarks such as Galle Face Green, old parliament, the lighthouse clock tower, Colombo harbour, Gangarama Temple, Independence Square, Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) and the Viharamahadevi Park, Nelum Pokuna Lotus tower.

Indulge in souvenir shopping the local markets.
