The best part? You don't have to figure any of it out yourself with our Meghalaya tour packages. For the last 7 years, we've been taking travellers across Meghalaya, running over 2,000 trips and hosting 5,000+ travellers along the way.

  • Backed by Years of Experience— Every route we offer has been walked, adjusted, and refined through real departures and real feedback. When something unexpected happens in Meghalaya—a road washed out, there's a weather shift, a plan needs changing on the ground—we've seen it before and we know exactly what to do
  • Ground-level route knowledge built from actually running trips through Shillong, Cherrapunji, Mawlynnong, Dawki, and the Jaintia Hills — not just planning them on paper
  • Community travel at its core — WanderOn was built around the idea that travel is better shared. Our Meghalaya departures bring together like-minded travellers who arrive as strangers and leave as a group with shared memories
  • Transport sorted before you land—Shared cabs and local transfers pre-arranged so you're moving efficiently rather than negotiating on the roadside
  • Itineraries that balance the iconic and the offbeat—From the living root bridge trek and Umngot River boating to Wari Chora canyons and Krem Chympe caves, every departure is built around experiences worth making the journey for
  • Homestay and guesthouse partnerships with local Khasi families — Stay at trusted local homestays and guesthouses that showcase the warmth, culture, and traditions of Meghalaya beyond the usual tourist experience.
  • Inner Line Permit assistance handled for you — From permits to paperwork, our team helps ensure you're ready to travel before the journey begins.
  • Fixed group departures that keep costs shared and sensible — WanderOn runs scheduled Meghalaya departures in June, September, and October, covering the monsoon season and the post-monsoon window when the state is at its most rewarding. Groups of 15 to 20 travelers hit the sweet spot where costs remain manageable and the experience stays intimate.
  • A dedicated Trip Captain with you throughout — not a helpline, not a chatbot, someone physically present who knows the region and knows how to handle the unexpected
  • 24×7 support from our team — so there's always someone reachable if something needs sorting at any hour, from the day you book to the day you return
  • Verified reviews across TripAdvisor, Google, and Facebook — thousands of travellers have written about their WanderOn experience in their own words, unprompted. Before you book our Meghalaya group tour packages, read what people who've actually travelled with us have to say
Moments from Our Travellers' Meghalaya Adventures
Here's what Anant Pandey had to say after joining one of our Meghalaya group packages:
“My trip to Meghalaya was incredible. What stood out the most was our wonderful trip captain, Nisha - an absolute rockstar. She was a powerhouse of energy while also making everyone feel comfortable and at ease.
The stay arrangements were well taken care of. The level of professionalism throughout the trip was outstanding. From the initial briefing call to clear and consistent communication during the journey, everything was well managed. A special mention again to Nisha, who managed to be incredibly patient with everyone while somehow keeping the entire itinerary perfectly on schedule.
Priya Pithadia summed up her Meghalaya trip package experience with WanderOn perfectly:
“This was my first-ever solo trip, and choosing Meghalaya for it was one of the best decisions of my life. A huge reason behind this unforgettable journey was our trip captains, Vedansh Patel and Azaz. They were incredibly responsible, supportive, and made the entire trip so much fun.
I am not at all a trekking person, and I never imagined I would be able to complete the Double Decker hike. But with Vedansh’s constant motivation and support, I pushed myself and made it to the end.”

Day 3: Double Decker Living Root Bridge Trek
The day most people talk about afterwards. Drive to Tyrna Village and trek down to the Single Root Bridge, then further to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge, where two bridges are grown entirely from rubber fig tree roots, one stacked above the other. Roughly 3,300 steps each way. The climb back is harder than the descent, but it delivers.

Check out after breakfast; visit Mawsmai Cave and Mawlynnong, one of Asia's cleanest villages with a bamboo skywalk overlooking the Bangladesh plains. Drive to Shnongpdeng, check into riverside camps on the Umngot River, and end the evening with a bonfire by the water.
Overnight in Shnongpdeng.
Day 5: Water Sports | Phe-Phe Waterfall | Return to Shillong
Morning on the Umngot River, clear enough to see the riverbed from the boat. Engage in water sports and boating until lunch, then drive back to Shillong, stopping at Phe-Phe Waterfall along the way. Reach Shillong by evening.
Overnight in Shillong.
Day 6: Umiam Lake | Departure from Guwahati
Breakfast, check-out, and a final stop at Umiam Lake before the drive to Guwahati Airport.

How Much Does a Meghalaya Group Trip Cost?

  • Budget — ₹18,000 to ₹30,000 per person
Meghalaya budget group tour packages in this range cover comfortable stays, shared transport, decent stays, and sightseeing across Shillong, Cherrapunji, Dawki, and Mawlynnong with a trip captain on the ground. Full Meghalaya without the hefty price tag.
  • Mid-Range — ₹30,000 to ₹45,000 per person
Upgraded accommodation, more inclusions, and a more relaxed itinerary pace. A good balance between comfort and value for travellers who want more without going premium.
  • Premium — ₹45,000 and above per person
Smaller groups, better properties, handpicked experiences. For those who want the trip done properly with fewer compromises.
Flights to Guwahati, personal spends, and activities outside the package are extra. Splitting costs across a group makes Meghalaya far more accessible than going at it alone.

Highlights of Our Meghalaya Group Packages: Shared Experiences

WanderOn Meghalaya group tour packages have their own personality—some are built around the iconic, others go deeper into corners of the state that most itineraries never reach. If you're planning a group trip to Meghalaya, here's what actually awaits you on the ground.
  • Double Decker Living Root Bridge Trek — WanderOn takes you through the forested trails of Nongriat to one of Meghalaya's most remarkable natural wonders—a bridge shaped not by tools but by generations of living roots, still growing, still holding
  • Boating on the Umngot River, Dawki—One of those sights that genuinely stops conversation. The water is clear enough that boats appear to float on nothing, and no photograph has ever quite done it justice
  • Riverside Camping at Shnongpdeng — Bonfire evenings, an open sky, and the river close enough to hear all night. Select departures also include cliff jumping and snorkelling for those who want more than a quiet evening by the water
  • Wari Chora Canyon Exploration — Available on select WanderOn departures, boat rides take you through narrow gorges and emerald waters into one of the most spectacular offbeat destinations in Meghalaya — the kind of place that makes you wonder why it isn't talked about more
  • Krem Chympe Cave Adventure — A full-day experience combining cave exploration, forest trails, river crossings, and remote landscapes that most Meghalaya itineraries never get close to
  • Meghalaya's Iconic Waterfalls—Nohkalikai Falls, Phe-Phe Falls, and several seasonal waterfalls cascade and come fully alive during the monsoon months when the hills are at their most dramatic
  • Laitlum Canyon & Nongjrong Viewpoints—Standing above the clouds at sunrise or watching the valleys go dark at sunset—these are the moments that end up as the trip's most talked-about photographs and its quietest memories
  • Mawlynnong Village — Asia's cleanest village isn't just a title. Walking through it with a WanderOn guide who can explain the community practices behind it gives the experience a depth that a solo visit rarely does
  • Kaziranga Jeep Safari — On WanderOn packages that extend into Assam, mornings in Kaziranga bring you face to face with one-horned rhinos and a landscape that feels completely removed from the Meghalaya hills you've spent the week exploring
  • Meghalaya Bike Expeditions — WanderOn's dedicated bike departures cover the state's winding mountain roads, forested descents, waterfall stops, and remote villages for those who want to feel the northeast rather than observe it.

Group Travel Tips for a Smooth Meghalaya Adventure (Verified by our Trip Captains)

WanderOn has run enough Meghalaya group tour packages across seasons and group sizes to know what separates a smooth trip from a stressful one. Here's what actually makes the difference.
  • Book Early
WanderOn's fixed departures fill up well before travel dates, especially during monsoon in Meghalaya and the September–November window. Early bookings also keep the Meghalaya group tour cost per person more predictable than last-minute slots.
  • Understand What's Included
When comparing Meghalaya group tour package prices, the headline number rarely provides the complete picture.
Whether you're booking Meghalaya tour packages from Mumbai, Delhi, or other cities, WanderOn keeps inclusions transparent—— accommodation, select meals, trek support, Wari Chora boat arrangements on applicable departures, and a dedicated Trip Captain throughout the journey. No surprise costs, no last-minute add-ons after you've committed.
  • Pack for the Terrain
The Nongriat trek, Wari Chora canyon, and monsoon edition all involve real terrain and weather. WanderOn sends a detailed packing list with every booking — waterproof footwear and a rain jacket will matter more than anything else in your bag.
  • Carry Cash Before Leaving Shillong
WanderOn handles the big logistics, but village markets, roadside dhabas, and smaller stops beyond Shillong run on cash. Withdraw before you head into the hills.
  • Go With the Group, Not Against It
A WanderOn Meghalaya group trip works best when everyone moves with the same spirit. Respect departure times, stay with the group on treks, be flexible when plans shift due to the weather, and make room for the quieter members of the group to find their footing. The trips that people talk about for years are always the ones where the group clicked and that starts with each traveller showing up with the right attitude.
  • Let Your Trip Captain Lead
Your WanderOn trip captain is on the ground with you throughout—managing logistics, handling changes, and keeping the group on track. Trust their calls, especially when conditions shift.

Is a Meghalaya Group Tour a Good Option for Solo Travellers?

Absolutely, and most group tour bookings in Meghalaya are solo travellers. The state has actively invested in traveller safety through initiatives like the Tourist Buddies Program, which trains local youth in hospitality and safety to assist visitors across the region.
You book alone, you don't travel alone
Group departures bring together like-minded travellers in groups of 10 to 15 people. Intimate enough to find your footing quickly, large enough to always have someone up for a trek or a late-night bonfire conversation.
Built for connection
From shared meals at Khasi homestays to riverside camping at Shnongpdeng, the itinerary naturally brings people together. Many solo travellers who start with a Meghalaya group tour end up planning their next trip together—which is exactly how most Meghalaya tour packages for friends get started.
Safety and support sorted
A dedicated trip captain travels with the group throughout, and round-the-clock support is always reachable. The parts of solo travel that feel uncertain—logistics, safety, navigating unfamiliar terrain—are handled from day one.
