  • In awe of nature, mesmerized by its jaw-dropping beauty and the wildlife that completes it. Sri Lanka, an island nation in the Indian Ocean, a hotspot for flora and fauna, and a country full of adventures! On this backpacking journey across Sri Lanka’s wild side, we explore the wonders of nature and understand exactly why the gods must be have been crazy!
  • Our journey in Sri Lanka begins in the capital city of Colombo. An exciting city tour awaits us where we explore the key landmarks such as the old parliament, the lighthouse clock tower, Colombo harbor, Gangarama Temple in the Beira Lake, Independence Square, and the Viharamahadevi Park, Lotus Tower!
  • After a day in the city, we head south to explore the wild. Yala, spanning over 900+ kilometers, is home to a large number of animals and exotic birds! Treat yourself to a jeep ride and go for a safari ride of a lifetime! One can spot peacocks, crocodiles, wild boars, and spotted deer grazing across the scrub forest. Not only that, there are chances to even come across leopards, sloth bears, and a colossal tusker! Your wildlife explorations do not end in Yala - Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home is the next destination where we dive deeper into the wild. It is wholesome to witness the day-to-day activities of elephants!
  • Further, on your journey, you will head to Mirissa, a place truly heaven! You’ll get to spot the giant whales and dolphins! And if you are lucky, you will be able to catch a glimpse of the killer whales (also known as orcas)! Truly a once in a lifetime experience, isn’t it?
  • On your journey ahead, you will visit the famous key landmarks across Sri Lanka like the Dondara Head lighthouse, which is located on the southernmost point of Sri Lanka and is the tallest in the country. Witness a majestic 51 feet high buddha statue, that was built back in the 10th century in Buduruwagala!
  • After exploring the wild side of Sri lanka, you will get a day of indulgence and luxury in the resort town of Ahangama. Take your time to relax, unwind and escape from your busy life. Enjoy the spa treatments and treat yourself with all the love in the beautiful resort.

    Itinerary

    Day 1
    Airport – Colombo

    Begin your journey with a touchdown in the capital city of Colombo.

    Check in to the hotel, and relax for a while.

    In the evening, take a tour of the city.

    Visit the key landmarks – Galle Face Green, old parliament, the lighthouse clock tower, Colombo harbour, Gangarama Temple in the Beira Lake, Independence Square and the Viharamahadevi Park, Lotus Tower.

    Dinner and overnight stay in Colombo.

    Day 2
    Colombo – Yala

    Post breakfast, head towards Yala.

    Drive through the picturesque landscapes of Sri Lanka to reach your campsite.

    In the afternoon, we go for the much-awaited safari ride. Here you get the chance to spot various wildlife species!

    In the evening, we enjoy a BBQ session under a night sky full of stars.

    Overnight stay in camps.

    Day 3
    Yala – Kataragama – Udawalawe

    Begin the day with a visit to Kataragama temple.

    Continue the drive to Udawalawe via Buduruwagala (where we witness the witness the majestic buddha statue), whilst enjoying the picturesque views of sprawling lush green paddy fields on your way.

    Next, you will visit the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home, where you can see the baby elephants go about their day!

    Dinner (BBQ) and overnight stay in camps.

    Day 4
    Udawalawe – Ahangama Beach

    Post breakfast, go for a safari ride in Udawalawe National Park – a famous tourist attraction, renowned for its outstanding scenic beauty and wealth of faunal and floral species.

    Visit the Ahangama beach to relax for a while.

    On the way to Ahangama, visit the Dondara Head lighthouse- Sri Lanka’s tallest light house and one of the tallest in Asia.

    Check into the resort at Ahangama.

    Dinner and overnight stay.

    Day 5
    Ahangama – Mirissa – Ahangama

    Today, we go for whale watching in Mirissa.

    Sperm whales, Bryde’s whales are some of the most common whales that you will encounter, and if you are really lucky, you will be able to catch a glimpse of the killer whales (also known as orcas).

    Dinner followed by an overnight stay at the resort in Ahangama.

    Day 6
    Ahangama – Galle – Departure

    Travel to Galle.

    Visit a 300-year-old fort, a maritime museum, a Bodhi tree and a reclining Buddha Statue and a historic lighthouse that you can visit to learn more of Sri Lankan history.

    Fly back home with amazing memories!
