Ziro is not just a festival -it’s a feeling that settles in slowly. Set deep in Arunachal’s Apatani heartland - the Ziro Valley, this journey moves between long scenic drives, quiet rice fields, and four unhurried days of music that never feel overwhelming. There are moments of rhythm, and then there are pauses like watching mist roll over hills, walking through tribal villages, or simply doing nothing at all.

It’s a rare balance. Energy when you want it, stillness when you don’t. And somewhere along the way, Ziro becomes more than a destination.

Itinerary

Day 1

Guwahati to Tezpur

Arrive in Guwahati and begin the drive towards Tezpur, crossing the Kaliabhumura Bridge over the Brahmaputra.

The river stretches wide and quiet beneath you - the journey easing you in.

On arrival, explore Bamuni Hills, Chitralekha Udyan, and Podum Pukhuri.

A gentle introduction to Assam’s layered history before the hills begin.

Day 2

Tezpur to Ziro

We leave early for Ziro, driving deeper into Arunachal’s changing landscapes. Forests grow denser, roads quieter, and the air noticeably cooler.

By the time you arrive, Ziro feels almost tucked away from everything else.

Check in and let the valley set its own pace.

Day 3

Apatani Village & Ziro Music Festival

The morning begins unhurried, with time to settle into Ziro’s quiet rhythm.

Later, step into an Apatani tribal village—where bamboo homes, paddy fields, and a deeply sustainable way of life come together effortlessly.

Walk through their unique rice-and-fish farms and observe traditions that have remained unchanged for generations.

By evening, the valley shifts. The Ziro Music Festival comes alive—music, energy, and a shared sense of presence under open skies.

Day 4

Ziro | Paddy Field Fishing & Festival Evenings

A slow morning, followed by a glimpse into one of Ziro’s most rooted traditions.

Head into the terraced paddy fields, where fishing blends with cultivation - an Apatani practice both simple and ingenious. The experience is tactile, grounded, and deeply local.

Enjoy a delicious meal of freshly grilled fish along with some other local delicacies like smoked pork with bamboo shoot, rice beer or apong, thukpa,etc.

As night falls, return to the festival - live music, open air, and a sky that feels close enough to reach.

Day 5

Ziro | Valley Landmarks & Festival Finale

The day opens with the option to explore Ziro’s quieter corners.

Visit the Shiva Lingam Temple, Sikhe Lake, Helipad Ground, and the culturally rich Old Ziro - each place understated, yet memorable.

Or simply take the morning to pause and recharge.

By evening, return for the final stretch of the Ziro Music Festival—music, movement, and a sense of everything coming together.

Day 6

Ziro to Guwahati

An early start as you leave the valley behind.

The drive to Guwahati is long, giving the landscape time to slowly shift back.

On arrival, check in and unwind after the journey.

A quiet close to the experience, with Ziro lingering in the background.

Day 7

Ziro to Guwahati | Departure

We begin the journey back, leaving the valley behind.

In Guwahati, visit the revered Kamakhya Temple before departure.

The trip comes to a close, but Ziro rarely does. It stays in the music, in the quiet, in the spaces in between.
