This isn’t just any park – it’s a sanctuary for biodiversity, a haven for adventure seekers, and a treasure trove of unforgettable experiences.
Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a thrill-seeker, or simply looking for a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Bach Ma National Park has something special to offer.
Join us as we journey into the heart of this pristine wilderness and discover the magic that awaits around every corner.
The park’s name, which translates to “white horse” in Vietnamese, comes from the white clouds that frequently cover its peaks and give the surrounding area an ethereal quality.
The park is filled with the remains of military bases and houses from the French colonial era, which serve as intriguing reminders of the area’s colorful past.
You could come across an amazing variety of plants and animals in Bach Ma National Park, adding to the area’s abundant biodiversity.
Dipterocarp Trees: Towering high above the forest canopy, these majestic trees provide shelter and sustenance for various wildlife species.
Bamboo Groves: Elegant bamboo stands sway gently in the breeze, offering habitat and sustenance for many animal species, including the elusive red-shanked douc langur.
Orchids: With their delicate blooms and intricate patterns, orchids add a touch of elegance to the forest floor, attracting pollinators and enchanting visitors with their beauty.
Giant Ferns: Towering ferns create a lush undergrowth beneath the forest canopy, providing shelter for small animals and adding to the park’s scenery.
Long-Tailed Macaques: Agile and curious, these monkeys are a common sight in the park, swinging through the trees and searching for food.
Crested Argus Pheasant: The rare Crested Argus Pheasant is a bird species easily identified by its eye-catching body and unique call, which it uses to search for food on the forest floor.
Giant Squirrels: These fluffy-tailed rodents are skilled climbers, darting through the treetops in search of food and shelter.
Asian Elephants: While less frequently seen, Bach Ma National Park is also home to a population of Asian elephants, majestic giants that roam the forest in search of food and water.
By Public Bus: The most budget-friendly option is to take a public bus from Hue or Da Nang. Buses run regularly between these cities and will drop you off at Cau Hai, the park entrance as per the Hue travel guide.
The journey takes about 1.5 hours from either city. From Cau Hai, you can take a taxi or motorbike to the park headquarters
By Private Car or Motorbike: If you prefer more flexibility and control over your itinerary, renting a car or motorbike is a great option. The drive from Hue or Da Nang takes about an hour. Here’s how to get there:
From Hue: Take National Highway 1A south towards Da Nang. Look for a blue sign directing you to Bach Ma National Park on your right. Continue straight until you reach the national park entrance.
From Da Nang: After passing through Hai Van Pass, you’ll be on National Highway 1A. You can ask locals for directions or use Google Maps to navigate to the park entrance which is one of the most interesting things to do in Da Nang for visitors here and beyond.
