The bullet train is more than just a fast ride. It is seen as a big step forward for Indian railways. If successful, it could lead to more high-speed train routes across the country in the future.
1. The train is called Shinkansen E5 and will run between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
2. Indian Railways plans to order these trains by 2024 from Japan.
3. It can go super fast – up to 350 km/hr but it will usually run at 320 km/hr.
4. The trip from Mumbai to Ahmedabad will be much quicker than before.
5. India is also planning 2 chair-car high-speed trains that can go up to 250 km/hr.
6. These new fast trains might replace some current trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi.
7. The Bullet train in India route will be 508 km long, with 351 km in Gujarat and 157 km in Maharashtra.
8. Passengers can choose between a fast trip with few stops or a slower one that stops at all 12 stations.
9. In the future, there could be 35 bullet trains making 70 trips every day.
10. The project includes building an undersea tunnel between BKC and Thane, which is a big engineering challenge.
