Right now, they’re testing the Changi Airport biometrics passport system at Terminal 3, where special lanes have been set up. The good news is that by the end of 2024, this Singapore airport no physical passport system will be available at all of Changi’s terminals. Plus at Seletar Airport and the Marina Bay Cruise Centre.
Who Can Use Singapore’s New No-Passport System?
- Singapore citizens
- Permanent residents
- Long-term pass holders
If You’re A Foreign Visitor:
You can use it when leaving Singapore. But first, you need to stop at an immigration counter to manually register your:
- Face scan
- Eye scan
- Fingerprints
Note: Children under 6 years old can’t use this system. They need to go through regular immigration checks.

- By early 2026, 95% of travellers will use automatic lanes instead of showing passports to immigration officers.
- The new system could cut waiting time at immigration by almost half(40%).

According to ICA Commander Alan Koo, the new passport-free system has a double benefit.
Immigration officers can now focus on more important security work, like checking for suspicious travellers and it helps solve two big challenges:
- Having fewer workers as many staff get older.
- Managing more travellers coming through Singapore’s borders.
