Starting November 30, 2024, tourists from 38 countries can visit China without getting a visa. Visitors can stay for up to 30 days; twice as long as the old 15-day limit. China’s Visa Free Policy will last until the end of December 2025. It is a test program to see how well it works.

What’s New?

As China: visa-free policy extended, foreign visitors can now stay in China for 30 days without a visa; double the previous 15-day limit. This new rule starts from November 30, 2024.

China wants to make it simpler for tourists and business travellers to visit. No more paperwork and waiting for visa approval!

Who Benefits?

People from 38 different countries can now enjoy this easier travel option. More countries have been added to the list, meaning more international visitors from China visa-free countries can visit China hassle-free.

The Newly Added China Visa-Free Countries Are 

  • Bulgaria
  • Romania
  • Croatia 
  • Montenegro
  • Northern Macedonia
  • Malta
  • Estonia
  • Latvia
  • Japan

How Long Will This Last?

The new visa-free travel to China will last until December 31, 2025. It’s part of China’s bigger plan to boost tourism and make international connections stronger.

China Adds New Type Of Visa-Free Visits

  • China is opening its doors wider by adding a new category called “Type F” for visa-free entry. This new option starts November 30, 2024.
  • People coming to China for educational and cultural exchanges can now enter without a visa. This includes students, teachers, and cultural program participants. 
  • This change shows China wants to build stronger connections with other countries through learning and cultural sharing. It makes it easier for people to join exchange programs and educational activities.

China’s Visa-Free Entry Expands Tourism Surge

Starting with six European countries in December 2023, the visa-free travel to China has significantly increased foreign tourism. In the third quarter of 2024, China welcomed 8.19 million international visitors, a 48.8% jump from the previous year. Notably, 4.89 million travellers entered using the visa-free option, representing a dramatic 78.6% year-on-year increase.

This is clear proof that China’s visa-free travel program has rapidly boosted international visitor numbers.
