It is believed that Garuda Dev had performed rigorous penance here, after which Lord Shiva appeared here and remained here in the form of Shivalinga. Holkar dynasty was a devotee of Lord Shiva, So Rani Ahilya Bai Holkar had renovated this ancient Shiva temple in the 18th century.
Over the years, Devguradiya temple has undergone several renovations and restorations. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the temple got patronage from Maratha rulers who contributed to its upkeep and expansion.
Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary is approximately 25 km away from Devguradiya temple. It is a haven for nature lovers and wildlife lovers. You can encounter here with a variety of flora and fauna, including deer, and wild boars. You can also enjoy jeep safari and bird watching in Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary.
Lal Bagh Palace, Located on the banks of the Khan River, is another residence of the Holkar rulers of Indore thus attracting many visitors. Visitors can see the museum in which royal artefacts are kept and learn about the history of the Holkar dynasty.
