There are plenty of reasons to visit this place or window shop; even if you don’t want to buy anything, you can still go window shopping and witness the most eye-catching and quality designs of Gold at the Dubai Gold Souk.

Surprisingly, the Gold Souk is famous worldwide and has been mentioned in the Guinness Book of World Records for being home to the world’s largest and heaviest ring, 64 kilograms with a stone resting on it, which weighs 5.1 kilograms.

Besides gold, the Souk has plenty of things to offer, including silver, diamonds, platinum, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and other precious stones. The entire souk is full of jewellery, ornaments and tiny souvenirs.

You can also buy a variety of watches, bracelets, rings, and even religious scriptures and figurines. If you are looking for an investment that will last a lifetime then you can buy some gold coin or gold biscuit, bars or cards from the Souk. The fascinating thing about this place is that you can even spot 22 or 24-karat gold clothing or decorative items.

Things To Know Before Visiting Dubai Gold Souk

There are certain things that you should know before visiting the Dubai Gold Souk, so have clarity of things when you visit the place.
  • Not all shops are air-conditioned at the Dubai Gold Souk, and when the market gets crowded, you will be hit by the summer heat a little more. Its best to visit the place in the evening when the temperature drops and the weather becomes pleasant.
  • You should be aware of the latest prices and quality of the stuff so you can negotiate the prices easily and also reduce the chance of being fooled.
  • Before visiting the place, you should have a clear mind of what it is that you are going to buy to avoid any last-minute hassle or chaos.
  • There is a high possibility that the shopkeeper will quote a higher price, especially when you are a tourist, so it is advisable that you try to bargain and reduce the price by 25% to 30% and then make the purchase.
  • The same jewellery can be spotted at several shops, so first explore properly and see where you can get the lowest prices, and, after careful consideration, make the purchase because who knows where you can get a better deal.
  • Ensure that you visit the nearby shops as well, including the Perfume Souk and the Spices Souk, to buy premium quality spices and some mind-blowing fragrances.
  • Pack light and take care of your bags. If you are travelling with your kids, then take care of them as well.
  • Avoid buying jewellery from stalls or booths just because they are selling at lower prices because they may sell low-quality products or fake or unauthentic products.

Dubai Gold Souk is also known as the Gold Mall, popularly known for selling premium quality gold and is located adjacent to the Spice Souk, which is quite popular for buying spices.

You can get off at the Al Ras Metro Station and then take a small abra ride, which is basically a boat ride to your desired destination. These boat rides are a lot of fun and will only cost you AED 1 per person.

In Ladakh, find the perfect blend of culture, adventure, and serenity. December last year I decided that my next trip would be Ladakh but didn’t know how to go about it. I knew I wanted to travel in a group, as I had prior experiences of traveling in a group but wanted an organiser I could trust. Ladakh isn’t like other destinations wherein you need some instructions due to the high altitudes.
