Hue Imperial City is a must-see attraction in Vietnam and was the home of the Nguyen Dynasty. Today, you can visit incredible places inside this city. These majorly include the Imperial Palace, the Forbidden Purple City, and the Royal Ancestral Temple. All of these depict a story of Vietnam’s royal history.

Location

The Hue Imperial City is located on the north bank of the Perfume River. It is surrounded by bustling streets and markets. Entry Fees

Entry fee for Hue Imperial City tour:
  • INR 667.53 for adults
  • INR 133.51 for children aged 7 to 12. 

Extra charges include tour fees, lodging, and activities such as boating.

Payment at the entrance of the Hue Imperial City can be made only with cash. However, for nearby accommodations, you may get the option to use the card. 

How to Reach Hue Imperial City?

Thanks to the developed infrastructure in the area, you can choose from different modes of transportation. These options mainly include:
  • By Road

Hue Imperial City is accessible by car, bus, or taxi from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, and Danang. The bus travel from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh takes between 12-24 hours. However, the trip from Danang is significantly quicker, only 2-3 hours.

  • By Rail

You can take a train from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to Hue Railway Station. The Imperial City is 3.4 kilometers away and can be reached via taxi, bus, or motorcycle.

  • By Air

The Citadel of Hue is 17 kilometers from the Phu Bai International Airport. To get to Hue Imperial City from the airport, use a shuttle bus or a cab.

Best Time to Visit Hue Imperial City

  • February to August during the dry season

You can easily visit the city between February and August. Since it is a dry season during this time, the temperatures range between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius. This makes it perfect to explore the top attractions in Hue Citadel. 

You will get easy access and cleaner roads during the season, which allows you to completely enjoy the view. Additionally, Tet and Hue festivals are also celebrated during the season.

  • Every day from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM in summer
  • Every day from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM in winter
