Janapav Hills is a famous tourist place. It is around 45 km from Indore city located on the Indore-Mumbai highway, near the village of Janapav Kuti in Mhow Tehsil, Indore district of Madhya Pradesh. As per some reports even today Janapav Hills has various medical herbs and plants.
Making it one of the best tourist spots for trekking enthusiasts. Janapav Hills are surrounded by dense forest. Janapav Hills is also the birthplace of Lord Parshurama a fair is held every year on Kartik Purnima i.e. the first full moon after Diwali.
One of the legends also states that around twelve rivers come from a tank also known as Kund situated on Janapav Hills in Indore including Chambal, Saraswati, and Nakheri.

The nearest airport to Janapav Hills in Indore is Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport. Upon reaching the airport you can hire a cab to Janapav Hills. The airport is around 46 km from Janaav Hills.
At a distance of 48 km from Indore Janapav Hills has well-connected roads to Indore. To reach Janapav via road, you can take either of the following two routes: Manpur Road or Yashwant Nagar Road. You can hire a cab or get a car to reach Janapav Hills.
The nearest railway station to reach Janapav Hills is Rau Station which is about 23 km from the hill. From Rau railway station you can take a bus or get a rickshaw. It is mostly advisable that you have your vehicle as buses and cabs might not be available.
You can also visit Janapav Hills during Kartik Purnama the first full moon night after Diwali. Locals’ celebration of this festival with huge pomp and grandeur makes it the best time to visit Janapav hills.
You can also see the tank (kund) at a distance whose folklore is popularly known to be the major contributor to twelve rivers including Chambal, Saraswati, and Nakheri.
The Janpav Hills Trek will take you through the lush green forest, hilly region, and small villages. Birding is also another thing you can do on Janapav Hills. There are many species of birds residing on Janapav Hills. It will surely give you a breathtaking experience.
The trek is ideal for people who want to encounter the panoramic views of the Vindhyanchal Range.
Many devotees as well as tourists come during monsoon to visit the temple and enjoy the waterfall. From the base village, the trek is around 1-2 hours long to reach Sheetla Mata Waterfall. The place also has 3 caves and is believed that the Holkar and Pindhari Army used to hide in those caves.
Swimming in the waterfall is not allowed, and during August the flow of the waterfall is very heavy. You have to be a little careful of monkeys as there are many monkeys in the area.
Try to visit this waterfall on weekdays during summer as during weekends there is a lot of rush.
