How to reach Legian Beach

Legian Beach- An idyllic sunset point

Like many well-known Beaches in Bali, Legian Beach offers panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, spectacular sunsets, and a surfer’s delight as well as other tourists holidaying in Bali. The beach is 3 kilometers long and has soft white sand with clear blue waters. While this is a very popular beach for sunbathing and socializing, it is far away enough from the neighbouring Kuta to avoid the crowd.

Since the main hotspot of Kuta Beach is spreading its way up the coast, the once tranquil residential area of Legian is also getting more and more touristy. Fortunately, it still preserves its laid-back vibe and if you are looking for a relaxing holiday in the Beaches of Bali, then Legian Beach should definitely be on your list.

Bali Trip Packages gives you a fair idea of your holiday itinerary in Bali. With strong, powerful waves, long swells, a soft sandy beach, consistent waves, and cheap surfboard rentals, Legian Beach is a hot spot for surfing. If you have always wanted to learn how to surf, this is a great place to take lessons because there is a local surf school. If you aren’t into surfing, just relax on the beach to sunbathe.

Legian Beach is one of those places where lounging all day is possible, but if you feel like exploring you can take a brisk walk to Kuta Beach in the south or Seminyak Beach in the north. When exploring the beachfront, you’ll see the high-end resorts and hotels that line the beach. Sit down for a cocktail in a beachside café or grab a bite in one of the restaurants.

Legian Beach is a stretch of coastline that continues north of the coast of the famous Kuta Beach and ends where Seminyak Beach starts. Set between 2 of Bali’s most famous beaches, Legian is a mix of the surfing scene of Kuta and the partying crowd of Seminyak. Most people visiting these beaches come to Legian Beach in the late afternoon to watch the sunset. You can enjoy a Bintang, a local beer, with some Indonesian peanuts and relax and unwind in one of the many sun loungers available to hire right from the beachfront kiosks. There are also kiosks selling cold drinks, as well as masseuses roaming around the beach, and peddlers selling knick-knacks throughout the day. After dark, the beach comes alive with music, beach volleyball and football.

Legian Beach is a stretch of only 3 km, hence there are very limited activities that one can do on the beach apart from surfing and sunset viewing. However, because of its proximity to the two most famous beaches, ie, Kuta and Seminyak, your options extend to unlimited. You can either choose to party or explore the more cultural side to Bali. Some of the things to do in and around Legian Beach are
  • Surf: Legian Beach is one of the perfect spots to surf and thanks to its reef-less seabed, it is suitable for those who want to try catching a wave but are relatively new to surfing. There are plenty of shops where you can rent a board by the hour and ask for free basic lessons. If you prefer to be taught by a professional surfer, there are surf schools just along the beach. Most of these surf schools begin their courses early in the morning at a swimming pool before heading for the real waves in Legian. These classes feature safe, soft boards to get you started.
  • Take a Surf Lesson: The Rip Curl School of Surf is one of Asia’s leading board-riding schools. Founded in 1998, it has an international reputation for offering the finest services, facilities and consistently excellent learning conditions. It offers courses at all levels in surfing, wakeboarding, kite surfing, windsurfing, tow-in, and stand-up paddleboarding. Legian’s waves are not as crowded as Kuta’s in the south and provide you with slightly better conditions for learning. After about 4 hours of guidance from Rip Curl’s experienced team of instructors, you’ll get a clearer understanding of the techniques, form, and positioning on the board.
  • Dream Museum Zone (DMZ): DMZ, Bali is a fun art gallery featuring a vast collection of 3-dimensional, life-size murals for visitors to pose and play with. The gallery displays an array of masterfully painted artworks that serves as an interactive backdrop trick photography. There are around 120 artworks in 14 categories spread over 3 levels, which provide a full day of discovery and creativity. Dream Museum Zone (DMZ) Bali is located on Jalan Nakula, right off the junction of Jalan Dewi Sri and Kuta’s Sunset Road and just down the street from the TS Suites in Seminyak.
  • Double Six Beach is a 500-metre stretch of sand that’s part of Seminyak Beach. The beach connects the northernmost strip of Legian (called Blue Ocean Beach) and Seminyak’s southernmost beachfront. Part of Jalan Double Six runs parallel to the beach, which is lined with hip bars and restaurants. It is open to the public, and you can simply walk down to the beach if you’re staying at one of Legian’s resorts or hotels. Right on the beachfront, you’ll find restaurants offering all-day dining. The real crowds come at sunset, spreading colorful parasols, beach bags, and even mini tables on the sand. You won’t find any exclusively LGBT-friendly beaches in Bali, but Double Six is especially popular among gay travelers and locals alike.
