Since the main hotspot of Kuta Beach is spreading its way up the coast, the once tranquil residential area of Legian is also getting more and more touristy. Fortunately, it still preserves its laid-back vibe, and no doubt if you are looking for a relaxing holiday in the beaches of Bali, Legian Beach should definitely be on your list.
With powerful waves, long swells, a soft sandy beach, and cheap surfboard rentals, Legian Beach is a hotspot for surfing. If you have always wanted to learn how to surf, this is a great place to take lessons because there is a local surf school. If you aren’t into surfing, just relax on the beach to sunbathe and enjoy sunsets because Legian Beach is one of those places where lounging all day is possible, but if you feel like exploring you can take a brisk walk to Kuta Beach in the south or Seminyak Beach in the north. When exploring the beachfront, you’ll see the high-end resorts and hotels that line the beach. Sit down for a cocktail in a beachside café or grab a bite in one of the restaurants.
Most people visiting these beaches come to Legian Beach in the late afternoon to watch the sunset. You can enjoy a Bintang, a local beer, with some Indonesian peanuts and relax and unwind in one of the many sun loungers available to hire right from the beachfront kiosks.
There are also kiosks selling cold drinks, as well as masseuses roaming around the beach, and peddlers selling knick-knacks throughout the day.
After dark, the beach comes alive with music, beach volleyball, and football. Explore the best things to do, fees, and how to reach Legian Beach.
