Located at the towering altitude of 3500 meters above sea level, the Manshuk Mametova Mountain Lake gets its icy cold water from the Mametova Glacier. The trail for walking is covered in snow for the most part of the year, making it perfect for Adventure activities at Manshuk Mametova.
It takes approximately 6-7 hours to reach the lake, so it is advisable you start early in the morning, and get ample amount of time for camping at Manshuk Mametova Lake.
The Manshuk Lake was named after a Kazakh Woman to honour the fact that she was the first woman to be awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, for her bravery and contribution to the Second World War.
The water of this incredible lake is a beautiful jade-green colour and varies according to the seasons. During winters, the reservoir freezes and the ice doesn’t thaw before the summer starts.
You will come across enchanting coniferous forests, that give way to barren hills and rocks. If you are lucky enough you might get a glimpse of the local flora and fauna including marmots or even edelweiss.
