The Origin Of Medewi Beach In Bali

According to local people who live in the area, Medewi Beach in Bali has an interesting history that goes back many years.

Long ago, the area where Medewi Beach in Bali is located today was covered by a thick forest. This forest was full of special trees called "ketket" or "fire trees." These trees were very thorny and had many sharp spikes on them. In the local Balinese language, people called these thorny trees "meduwi."

Over time, people decided to clear this thorny forest to build homes and create a community. As more and more families moved to this area, they needed a name for their new village. Since the land used to be covered with those thorny "meduwi" trees, the villagers decided to call their new home "Meduwi Village," which basically means "thorny village."

As years passed and the community grew, the villagers gradually changed how they said the village name. Instead of saying "Meduwi," they started saying "Medewi". This is how the area around Medewi Beach in Bali got the name "Medewi Village" that everyone knows and uses today.
