Pithoragarh has launched Uttarakhand's first dedicated astronomy observatory at the historic Maharaja's Palace (also known as Pithoragarh Fort), boosting Astro Tourism Pithoragarh. This exciting facility, developed by the District Tourism Department and Starscapes Experiences , was inaugurated by Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj.
Satpal Maharaj expressed excitement at the launch, noting that the Pithoragarh observatory will encourage scientific activities while creating new tourism and employment opportunities for local communities.
The government has plans to set up more observatories in Uttarakhand to develop the astro-tourism infrastructure in the state.
The observatory is open to both tourists and locals to enjoy the star gazing sessions and workshops conducted at Pithoragarh.
