1. Ziro Valley, Arunachal Pradesh

2. Dzukou Valley, Nagaland

Straddling between two states of Nagaland and Manipur, the very famous Dzukou Valley is a sight to behold. Some sources also state that the name came from the local Angami and Mao dialects where Dzukou means “cold water”. According to folklore legend, it is said that back in the day when the Naga forefathers were scouting the land to settle down and start cultivation, they came across a valley high up in the mountains. Walking through the dense forest and then suddenly coming across an expansive valley with rolling hills must have brought them a great deal of relief. But soon they would find out that the land that lay in front of them simply refused to support any agriculture. Hence they called the land “dull and soulless” or Dzukuo in their local dialect. Today, the valley is one of the greatest tourist attractions in the states of Nagaland and Manipur.   • How To Reach Dzukou Valley: You can either fly or take a train to Kohima, the capital city of Nagaland. Then you can reach Dzukou Valley either by bus or drive about 20 kms from Kohima to the two towns of Jakhama and Viswema. It is from these towns that one can approach the Dzukou Valley.

3. Haflong, Assam
