Pura Samuan Tiga Temple in Bali is a well-known ancient relic located in the village of Bedulu in Gianyar. So, it is around 800 metres east of the Goa Gajah Temple and a 20-minute drive from Central Ubud, which makes it really accessible. 

By Flight 

  • Fly into Ngurah Rai International Airport
  • From there, you’ll need to take either a taxi or private transport to reach the temple via Jl. Bypass Ngurah Rai. 
  • Remember to plan for the 1-hour drive from the airport

By Taxi/ Car

  • From Denpasar, it is a 30km journey taking about 40 minutes via Jl. Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra.

One of the best places to visit in Bali, the Samuan Tiga Temple also has a significant background. A gathering took place in the Samuan Tiga Temple at the decision of the meeting agreeing that the god Tri Murthi was the main deity they worshipped consisting of 3 deities namely Lord Brahma who was believed to be a manifestation of Ida Sang Hyang Widi Wasa who served as a creator God, Lord Vishnu as a God The Preserver and Lord Shiva is the god the fuser. 

Starting from that time, many people came to adhere to such beliefs, and 9 sects were adopted including Shiva, Sidhanta Sect, Vaishnava Sect, Brahma Sect, Rishis sect, Buddhist sect, Bhairawa Sect, Ganaptya sect, Sora sect, Pasupata sect.

Additionally, there were so many sects developed causing friction and conflicts in Bali. Then, there was a meeting between the sects where they all unanimously accepted a new agreement which let the place come out to be known as the Samuan Tiga Temple. 

 It is important to note that Bali people believe Samuan Tiga’s history dates back to the Warmadewa dynasty, which was also known to have built the iconic Tirta Empul Temple
