History Of The Statue Of Dupleix
The Statue of Dupleix was an epitaph of the governor of French India in the 18th century, Joseph François Dupleix. His tenure was an important phase in the history of French India, for it was then that the place developed much, and there were strategic alliances formed. In 1870 the statue was ordered by the French government and was first located at the Place du Gouvernement. Later, it was shifted to its present location at the Dupleix Park on the Beach Road.
