Before Teletubbies Hill, this hill was called Gamal Hill by the locals. It was named after the Gamal trees that used to be abundant there, which were used to feed the local livestock such as cows, goats, and pigs. Many people in the area worked as animal breeders and would come to this hill daily to gather gamal tree leaves for their livestock. One day, a tourist visiting Nusa Penida saw the green and fertile hills, took photos, and uploaded them online. Many people commented that they resembled the hills in the children’s show Teletubbies, and from then on, this place became known as Teletubbies Hill. The wide expanse of hills and the lush green grass give it a beautiful charm, making the name Gamal Hill still very fitting.
