Mumbai Worli Fort’s history dates back to the British colonial era when it was built in 1675 by the British East India Company. The fort was strategically constructed to oversee the Mahim Bay and safeguard the northern approach to the Mumbai islands.
During this period, Mumbai was an archipelago of seven islands, and the fort played a crucial role in the defence against pirates and foreign invaders.
Over the centuries, the fort has witnessed numerous historical events, making it a significant landmark in Mumbai’s heritage.
