Next, we will also visit the adjoining Silver Pagoda which is made of 5000 silver tiles and houses a magnificent 17th century Emerald Buddha statue and a 90 kg gold Buddha studded with 9584 diamonds.
We will continue our sightseeing by visiting the Wat Phnom temple located on a manmade hill and is named after a wealthy widow who built a small pagoda here after finding four Buddha statues floating in the river.
Next, we will get a chance to witness the pieces of evidence from the brutal Khmer Rouge routine by visiting the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum where the Cambodians were imprisoned and tortured. (Visit only if you could handle witnessing the violent routine. Not reccomended for children).
This will be followed by a visit to the “Killing fields” of Choeung Ek where these prisoners were executed.
