Most Meghalaya trips stay around Shillong and Cherrapunji. This one doesn’t. It goes straight into the wild and keeps pushing further.

It starts in Baghmara, deep in the South Garo Hills, where the roads get longer, the crowds disappear, and the landscape feels completely untouched. Then comes Wari Chora, and this is where the trip shifts gears. A jungle trek leads you into a narrow canyon, followed by a boat ride through towering rock walls. It doesn’t feel like sightseeing. It feels like discovery.

Shillong brings a brief pause. Cafés, music, and a bit of familiarity. The route then moves into Jowai, quieter and far less explored. Krang Suri Falls adds that sharp hit of colour and movement, but the real experience is underground at Krem Chympe. Crawling through narrow limestone passages, stepping into dark chambers, and figuring out your way through the cave. This is not a curated adventure. It’s raw and a little unpredictable.

Then Kaziranga shifts the focus again. Early morning safaris, tall grasslands, and the chance to spot the one-horned rhinoceros in the wild. No barriers, no staged encounters. Just you and the landscape.

This is not a comfortable loop of tourist spots. It’s a route built for movement, for effort, for getting a little uncomfortable. That’s exactly why it stays with you.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival In Guwahati | Transfer To Baghmara

Upon your arrival at Guwahati airport or railway station, meet our representative and begin your journey towards Baghmara.

Board your vehicle and kickstart a long scenic drive into the South Garo Hills.

Short breaks can be taken along the way for meals and refreshments, but most of the day is spent on the road exploring this remote belt of the state.

By evening, you will reach Baghmara, a quiet border town close to the Bangladesh frontier that is known for its raw and untouched surroundings.

Check into your stay, and relax for the evening.

Day 2

Wari Chora Expedition | The Hidden Canyon

After breakfast, head out for a full-day expedition to Wari Chora, the hidden gem of Meghalaya, taking around 1.5-2 hours to reach.

Upon arrival, begin a 40-minute jungle trek to reach the banks of the Rongdik River, the entrance to the hidden canyon.

We’ll spend 3-4 hours exploring the 300-foot-deep canyon by boat, passing through towering rock walls that feel like a scene from an adventure movie.

Next, we’ll visit the Jadishil Fish Sanctuary, where the locals protect the river's life, and explore hidden waterfalls tucked inside the gorge.

After exploration, we’ll begin the return trek and drive back to Baghmara.

Day 3

Baghmara - Shillong | Scenic Transfer | Café Hopping

Wake up to a peaceful morning in Baghmara and have your breakfast.

Get ready for the day as you board your transfers and begin a scenic 7–8 hour drive towards Shillong through dense forests and rolling hills.

Upon reaching, check in to the hotel and rest for some time.

By evening, you can step out to explore Shillong’s vibrant café culture or walk through the lively Police Bazaar for some shopping and local food.

Day 4

Shillong - Jowai | Scenic Drive | Waterfalls & Viewpoints

Wake up to a refreshing morning in Shillong and have your breakfast.

Get ready for the day as you head towards Jowai, a scenic town located in the Jaintia Hills.

Post breakfast, check out from the hotel and board your transfers.

En route, you can stop at various sights or waterfalls (time permitting) to soak in Meghalaya’s natural beauty.

Continue the journey to Jowai, known for its peaceful atmosphere and offbeat charm.

Upon arrival, check in to your stay and rest for some time.

Spend the evening at leisure, take a short walk around the surroundings, or simply unwind after the drive.

Day 5

Krem Chympe Exploration | Return to Jowai

Start your day (by 6 AM) with an early breakfast and gear up to explore one of Meghalaya's best-kept secrets, Krem Chympe.

Spend 2–3 hours exploring this massive cave system, known for its turquoise river mouth and hidden passages.

Navigate through natural limestone formations and narrow chambers, making it a thrilling and offbeat caving experience.

After the exploration, board your transfers and begin the drive back to Jowai.

Upon reaching, check in to your stay and rest for some time.

Spend the evening at leisure, take a short walk, or simply relax after an adventurous day.

Day 6

Jowai - Guwahati | Scenic Transfer | Leisure Evening

Wake up to a calm morning in Jowai and have your breakfast.

Get ready for the day as you prepare to head towards Guwahati.

Post-breakfast, check out of your stay, board your transfers, and enjoy the scenic drive back to Guwahati.

Upon arrival, check into your hotel and rest for some time.

By evening, you can opt for a sunset cruise to enjoy sunset views, live music, and a relaxed vibe on the Brahmaputra River.

If you prefer something simpler, take a walk along the Brahmaputra Riverfront, enjoy local street food, and soak in the calm evening vibe by the water.

Day 7

Guwahati - Kaziranga National Park | Scenic Drive | Leisure

Wake up in Guwahati and have your breakfast.

Get ready for the day as you begin your journey towards Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for the one-horned rhinoceros.

Board your transfers and enjoy a 4–5 hour scenic drive through Assam’s countryside, dotted with tea gardens and rural landscapes.

Upon arrival, check in to your stay near Kaziranga and rest for some time.

In the evening, you can take a village walk nearby to experience local life or enjoy a cultural performance showcasing traditional Assamese dance and music.

Day 8

Kaziranga National Park Safari | Transfer To Guwahati | Departure

Start early in the morning for a Jeep Safari in Kaziranga National Park.

The park is known for its population of one-horned rhinoceroses. Also, keep an eye out for elephants, wild buffalo, and a variety of birdlife.

After the safari, return to your stay and have breakfast.

Post breakfast, check out from your stay and begin your journey towards Guwahati (approx. 4–5 hours).

The drive takes you through Assam’s open landscapes, with stretches of tea gardens and countryside views along the way.

Upon reaching Guwahati, you will be dropped at the airport or railway station for your onward journey.

Your Meghalaya trip concludes with unforgettable memories of Meghalaya and Assam.
