Ahar Cenotaphs In Udaipur: History, Architecture, Timings And Entry Fee

It is a town with important old sites called Ahar Cenotaphs. Cenotaphs are small buildings like tombs, built to honour important people like kings and queens. 

The ones in Ahar show how brave the Mewar kings were. These cenotaphs are about 2 km east of Rajasthan. There are more than 250 of them for the Mewar kings, built 350 years ago. 

You will see 19 special structures called chhatris for 19 kings who were cremated here. A group of cenotaphs is called a Mahasati. Now, it is a famous old site that shows the great history of the Mewar family from Udaipur.

Ahar Cenotaphs in Udaipur is an old royal burial ground, built over 400 years ago. where 19 rulers from the Mewar family were cremated. The last tomb was built in 2004 for Maharana Bhagwat Singh. 

Many tourists visit this place.  It has been a part of some Hollywood movies as well. In the 1990s, Arvind Singh Mewar decided to restore the area. He also built a museum there called the Ahar Archaeological Museum. This museum has artefacts from the 10th century.
