The Crystal Hall is a huge new building in Baku, located on National Flag Square overlooking the city’s port. Its design looks like crystals and is very eye-catching. It is 230 metres long and 160 metres wide, with space for up to 25,000 people. The roof is made of a clear material to protect from sun and weather.It was built quickly in just eight months, from September 2011 to April 2012, for the Eurovision Song Contest. This was a big challenge due to its location on a windy peninsula by the Caspian Sea. Over 7,000 tonnes of steel was used in the construction, and it was delivered from Istanbul.
