The Crystal Hall is a huge new building in Baku, located on National Flag Square overlooking the city’s port. Its design looks like crystals and is very eye-catching. It is 230 metres long and 160 metres wide, with space for up to 25,000 people. The roof is made of a clear material to protect from sun and weather.

It was built quickly in just eight months, from September 2011 to April 2012, for the Eurovision Song Contest. This was a big challenge due to its location on a windy peninsula by the Caspian Sea.  Over 7,000 tonnes of steel was used in the construction, and it was delivered from Istanbul. The building is made of three parts that were built separately and put together.

The outside of the building is covered in a folded membrane with over 80,000 LED lights, which makes it glow at night. The roof and walls use special materials for sound and weather protection, ensuring the hall is comfortable and looks impressive.

Overall, the Baku Crystal Hall architecture is no less than a wonder, showing Azerbaijan’s skill and progress.
