1. Qila Mubarak Complex

Standing in the heart of the city since the 18th century, this structure holds great importance in Patiala’s glorious past. The royal ruler Baba Ala Singh started the construction of this fort and it was completed by his grandson Maharaja Amar Singh. The structure is a mesmerizing amalgamation of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. Many Bollywood movies have been shot at this location. It is considered one of the best places to visit in Patiala.  The main attractions of the Qila are “Qila Androon” or the interior parts of the fort and Sheesh Mahal (Mirror palace). The fort complex is spread across a vast stretch of 10 acres and comprises several courtyards. The ‘Durbar Hall’ which used to be the royal court till 1947, has now been converted into the royal museum. Spread across 654 hectares, Bir was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1952. The Bir Moti Bagh Wildlife Sanctuary was once the hunting reserve of the royal family. Now, the sanctuary houses indigenous wildlife species of birds and animals, including Chital, quails, black buck, myna, hog deer, partridge, peafowl, etc.  A separate deer park is also situated in the sanctuary premises which tourists love and is one of the must-visit Patiala tourist places.
