The journey takes you through winding mountain roads with beautiful scenery along the way. It’s a popular day trip for people staying in Almaty. The drive up the mountain is exciting, with the road climbing higher and higher, offering amazing views at every turn.

  • By Taxi: Download the Yandex App and enter the location, and the taxi driver will take care of everything. The fare will vary depending on the location but would take around INR 8500 from Almaty to the Big Almaty Lake.
  • By Car: If you wish to drive your own car, then you don’t have that option because the road has been closed for private vehicles since 2020. 

When you finally arrive, the sight of Big Almaty Lake is simply breathtaking. Snow-capped peaks surround the lake and sits at an altitude of 2,511 meters above sea level. The turquoise waters of the lake stand in sharp contrast to the rugged mountains, creating a picture-perfect scene.
