Cyclone Fengal In Tamil Nadu And Karnataka:  Cyclone Fenagl hit Puducherry on November 30, 2024. Cyclone Fengal updates continue, as heavy rains cause floods and damage, forcing evacuations across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Cyclone Fengal struck between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram near Puducherry on Saturday evening with winds up to 90 kmph, causing floods and disruption across north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Tamilnadu Cyclone Fengal Live Tracking: Flood Alert

Excess water released from overflowing Veeranam Lake in Cuddalore. Heavy rains from Cyclone Fengal increase flood risk in surrounding areas.

Cyclone Fengal Affected Areas In Tamilnadu

Over 129,000 hectares of crops were damaged in Villupuram, Kallakurichi, and Tiruvannamalai districts, as reported by CM Stalin. Tamil Nadu to send detailed damage assessment to the central government.
  • Uthangarai was hit hardest with 503 mm of rainfall, causing vehicle washouts and road blockades to Tiruvannamalai. 
  • Pochampalli experienced 250 mm of rain, with Konannur Lake flooding shops and police station. Krishnagiri District-wide average rainfall reached 367.90 mm.
  • Pambar Dam water level rose to 17.78 feet, releasing 3,345 cusecs of water. Neighbouring Nilgiris recorded 23.72 mm rainfall.

Rail Disruptions Hit Tamil Nadu

Cyclone Fengal forces thousands of people to return home as railways suspend multiple train services across Tamil Nadu. Also, schools were shut. 

Severe flooding in Vikravandi forced Southern Railway to suspend train services, including Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express. Additionally, rising waters submerged a critical bridge connecting Vikravandi and Mundiyampakkam, blocking key routes between northern, central, and southern Tamil Nadu.

After making landfall in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Cyclone Fengal has weakened and is moving west-northwest. Heavy rains are expected in the coastal and Rayalaseema regions of Andhra Pradesh.

Cyclone Fengal Updates: Karnataka

Cyclone Fengal Live Tracking: Bengaluru has been experiencing continuous rainfall since Sunday evening. As per the India Meteorological Department(IMD), there will be rainfall in Bengaluru and Karnataka for the next two days. South Interior Karnataka expects widespread precipitation today, with lighter rain predicted on Tuesday. 

Cyclone Fengal Affected Areas In Bengaluru

  • Yellow Alert(6-11 cm rainfall): Bengaluru, Hassan, Mandya, Ramanagara
  • Orange Alert(11-20 cm very heavy rainfall): Udupi, Chikmagaluru, Chikkaballapur

Districts of Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Chamarajanagara, and Mysuru declared a holiday on December 2, 2024.
