The Trek to Dainkund

Dainkund is located in Dalhousie and offers a chance to connect with both nature and local traditions. Known for its breathtaking 360-degree views of lush valleys, Dainkund is often called the “Singing Hill” because of the winds that create a melodic hum as they pass through the trees. I couldn’t help but think, “This melody must be from fairies—definitely not witches—who wouldn’t create such a peaceful vibe!”

At 2755 meters, it’s the highest point in the region. The trek to Dainkund is short and easy—less than 2 km from Lakkad Mandi—making it a must-visit. As I walked, the path became more scenic and peaceful, with lush greenery guiding me to the peak. 

Though the trek itself is simple, the beauty of nature and the tranquil surroundings made it unforgettable. At the top, I found a couple of stalls serving tea, snacks, and juice, perfect for relaxing and soaking in the view.

Putting aside the spooky vibes, this place is like heaven on earth. Dainkund is famous for its serenity and natural beauty, making it one of the most beautiful yet least-visited spots in Dalhousie (maybe because of the Dainkund story of witches).
