The Eiffel Tower is one of the beautiful monuments that was built in the 18th century. It, also known as la Tour Eiffel, represents the romance and creativity of Paris.

The Eiffel Tower is a wrought-iron structure in Paris that is among the most famous landmarks in the world. It is also a technological masterpiece in building construction history. It was designed and built (1887–89) by Gustave Eiffel and named in his honour.

There has been a hot headline rising around the Eiffel Tower, which is also known as the ‘City Of Lights’ in Paris, which is the rise in the entry ticket of the tower. This surge in the price has impacted both the visitors and the localities in the city. It was also reported that the rise in entry tickets for the Eiffel Tower is going to start from June 17.

According to reports, Paris City Hall has increased a significant 20 per cent to address rising renovation costs and economic difficulties caused by recent challenges.

When Gustave Eiffel revealed his masterpiece in 1887, he recommended repainting it every seven years to prevent rust. However, this advice has been ignored for a long time, and the Eiffel Tower has yet to have a proper paint job in over a decade.

The new ticket prices mean that adults will now pay 35.30 euros ($38.31) for an elevator ride to the top, up from 29.40 euros ($31.91). For children aged 12 to 14, tickets will increase to 17.70 euros ($19.21); for those aged 4 to 11, tickets will go up to 8.90 euros ($9.66).

The price increase is partly due to a significant drop in revenue caused by the health crisis from 2020 to 2022, along with rising renovation costs.

The challenges that were faced in maintaining the Eiffel Tower started with COVID-19, the Pandemic phase that greatly affected global tourism, which also includes the economy of the Eiffel Tower.

Visitor numbers dropped sharply due to closures and travel restrictions, falling to less than 1.6 million in 2020, compared to nearly 6.2 million the year before. In 2023 the visitors’ visits recovered slowly to around 6.3 million but the financial problems for the Eiffel Tower remain the same.

To overcome these situations the Paris City Council has tried and approved several measures to get rid of the financial crisis of the Eiffel Tower but nothing seemed to work.

Apart from these efforts from the Council, there were also many disagreements raised by the unions who were completely worried about the funds which were not enough to manage the needs of the monument. Hence, it has been decided by the Paris City Council to raise the entry ticket price of the Eiffel Tower to solve the concerns related to maintaining the monument.

Paris the ‘City Of Lights’ is also preparing itself to host the Olympics 2024, where many visitors are expected during this time.

The Eiffel Tower which is a timeless symbol of Paris requires ongoing support which we need to ensure to preserve the monument for our future generations.

In Ladakh, find the perfect blend of culture, adventure, and serenity. December last year I decided that my next trip would be Ladakh but didn’t know how to go about it. I knew I wanted to travel in a group, as I had prior experiences of traveling in a group but wanted an organiser I could trust. Ladakh isn’t like other destinations wherein you need some instructions due to the high altitudes.
